Nshutinziza Marie Nicole
Nicole is 15 years old and is currently enrolled in Secondary 4 (sophomore in high school). She is the fifth born of six children. Nicole lives with both of her parents, but her father was left with a severe brain injury following an accident. Her mother is currently searching for work, but remains unemployed. Without a steady source of income for the family, Nicole has been unable to continue her education. She is an incredibly strong girl, but has a sweet spirit and smile. Her favorite subjects are Entrepreneurship and Mathematics. She enjoys to cooking cassava, which is her favorite food. Nicole likes to play basketball with her friends. She believes in God who has her life in his hand, and she dreams of one day becoming a pilot.
Jivence is 14 years old, currently enrolled in primary 4. He lives with his mother, stepfather, and four siblings. He has never met his biological father. Jivence’s mother works different jobs wherever she can find work; she washes dishes for schools, works on farmland, and makes and sells crafts. Jivence enjoys playing soccer, learning computer skills, playing guitar, and reading. His favorite subject in school is English. Jivence is a great leader and loves taking charge. His dream is to one day serve his country in the military.
Uwihiriwe Muhoza Queen
Queen is a sweet 7-year old girl who is currently enrolled in Primary 1. Queen lives with both of her parents and is an only child. Her father was formerly employed as a teacher but cannot currently find work. Her mother sells clothes in the street markets. Without a steady source of income, Queen’s family is often unable to afford tuition, as they must first pay rent for the small mud and tin shack that they call home. Queen likes to study English and Mathematics and enjoys playing football and volleyball. She is very bright and lively and has the potential to become a great leader. At home, Queen is responsible for cleaning dishes and keeping the house. She dreams of becoming a government official to help better her community.
Grace is a 7-year old girl, currently enrolled in Primary 1. She is the oldest of two children and lives with her father and mother. Grace’s father sometimes finds work washing cars, but her mother is currently unemployed. Because of her family’s financial struggles, Grace is not able to attend school regularly. Tuition and the cost of scholastic materials are too costly for her parents. Keza enjoys playing a game called Mabigibigi and ball with friends. At home, she is responsible for fetching water for the family and her favorite food is rice. She is great leader and her dream is to become a policewoman.
Inema Nkusi Kevin
Kevin is an 11-year old boy, currently enrolled in Primary 5. He is the oldest of two children in his family. Kevin’s mother left home when he was 4 years old, so he currently lives with his father, Willy. His father works as a gate guard and their family sleeps under a small veranda on the property where his father is employed. Kevin is not able to attend school regularly, as his father is often unable to afford the tuition or purchase the required materials. However, Kevin is anxious to learn and is very bright, handling himself with poise and gentleness despite his difficult circumstances.
Emelyne is a 10-year old girl, currently enrolled in Primary 5. She lives with her mother and two siblings. Her father abandoned his family and pregnant wife a few months ago. Emelyne’s mother cooks and sells beans to try to provide for her family. Emelyne is often unable to attend school, as her mother cannot afford the tuition and scholastic materials. When she is able to attend, her favorite subjects are Science and English. Emelyne is a very bright girl and she loves athletics. She enjoys playing football with her friends and also loves martial arts. Her favorite foods are potatoes and rice. Emelyne is a great leader and she dreams of one day serving her nation in the military.
Erick is 9 years old and is currently enrolled in Primary 1. He is the third oldest of six children. Erick lives with his grandmother, as both of his parents recently passed away. His grandmother was living in a village but moved to the city to care for her grandchildren after Erick’s mother passed away. Since his grandmother does not have a steady source of income, Erick is not able to regularly attend school. However, they continue to believe God will make a way for him. Erick is very smart and enjoys playing football. He enjoys singing in his choir at church and his favorite subjects at school are Mathematics and Kinyarwanda. He dreams of one day becoming president.
Uwase is a 10-year old girl and is currently enrolled in Primary 3. She is the second oldest of six children. Uwase lives with her grandmother, as both of her parents recently passed away. Her grandmother was living in a village but moved to the city to care for her grandchildren after Uwase’s mother passed away. Since her grandmother does not have a steady source of income, Uwase is not able to regularly attend school. They continue to pray for a miracle that would allow Uwase to continue her education. Uwase is a beautiful and bright young girl. She likes to play ball as well as a clapping game called Mabigibi. She sings in the choir at her local church and loves to pray to God as her mother used to do. Uwase helps her grandmother by fetching water, washing dishes, and cleaning their one room house. In school, Uwase’s favorite subjects are Mathematics and Science. She dreams of one day becoming a doctor.
Natalie is 13 years old and is currently enrolled in Primary 5. She is the second of six children. Natalie lives with her grandmother, as both of her parents recently passed away. Her grandmother was living in a village but moved to the city to care for her grandchildren after Natalie’s mother passed away. Since her grandmother does not have a steady source of income, Natalie is not able to regularly attend school. Natalie fights against fear and hopelessness for herself and her siblings; however, she continues to find hope in Jesus Christ. She loves to pray and sing in the choir at her local church. Her favorite subjects at school are English and Mathematics. She enjoys spending time with her siblings and playing with friends. Her vision is to become an entrepreneur and a businesswoman.
Emmanuel is a 6-year old boy who has never been able to attend school. He currently lives with his father, as his mother abandoned the family a year ago. Emmanuel is the youngest of three children. His father works as a charcoal stove maker, but has trouble earning enough to provide for the family. Because they cannot afford the tuition, Emmanuel has not been able to attend pre-school or kindergarten. However, Emmanuel is eager to learn and prays that he will be able to attend school next year. Emmanuel enjoys playing a jumping game called Ikibaliko and to make things out of mud. Emmanuel is somewhat shy but has a bright smile that lights up a room. Although he rarely gets to enjoy them, his favorite foods are meat and rice.
Wilson is a young man currently enrolled in Primary 5. He lives with his mother and four siblings, as his father passed away when Wilson was very young. Wilson is the youngest of the five children. His mother is stretched thin to provide for the needs of her large family and has to work hard just to pay rent on a small mud and tin shack they call home. Wilson is not able to attend school on a regular basis, as it is nearly impossible for his mother to pay the tuition and purchase required materials. He loves playing and watching football. He dreams of becoming a great soccer player in the future. Wilson’s favorite subjects are Science and English. After school, he is responsible for fetching water for the family and his favorite food is potatoes and rice.
Yasipi is an 11-year old girl, currently enrolled in Primary 4. She is the oldest of five children and her younger sister, Safillo, is also an aspiring Acts4Achiever. Yasipi lives with both of her parents. Her father formerly worked as a bus conductor but is currently unemployed, while her mother works as a janitor at the school Yasipi attends. The family’s resources are stretched thin, and it’s difficult to pay for school expenses and food for all five children. Despite these challenging circumstances, Yasipi remains hopeful for her future and has an optimistic spirit. She loves to sing in the choir at her local church and her dream is to become a professional gospel singer or an artist. She is very bright and responsible. Yasipi loves to take care of her siblings at home and also helps her mother with dishes and cleaning. Her favourite subject is Mathematics.
Safillo is a 9-year old girl, currently enrolled in Primary 4. She is the second-oldest of five children and her older sister, Yasipi, is also an aspiring Acts4Achiever. Safillo lives with both of her parents. Her father formerly worked as a bus conductor but is currently unemployed, while her mother works as a janitor at the school Safillo attends. The family’s resources are stretched thin, and it’s difficult to pay for school expenses and food for all five children. Despite the challenges that Safillo faces at home, she continues to trust that God has a plan for her life. She has a lively spirit and enjoys games, playing ball and running with her friends. Safillo is a sweet girl and always has a smile on her face. Her favorite subject to study is Mathematics. At home, Safillo is responsible for cleaning the house. She dreams of becoming a doctor in the future to serve her community.
Elyse is 14 years old. He attends Nyakbanda Primary School and is in the 4th grade. His favorite hobby is playing soccer with his friends. He lives in Nyakabanda, Kigali with his mother and two younger sisters. His father abandoned their family when he was very young. Despite facing hardships, Elyse has big dreams of becoming a doctor one day so that he can help others. Birthday: 11/25/2004
